Where it all began…
Lava South Rapid, Bio Bio River Chile
Morice’s Story
Morice started his brand during the earliest days of his river career in Chile and Peru. In his first 4 months of guiding, he began working on the legendary Bio Bio, the Futaleufu, Apurimac & Colca Cayon- all class 5 rivers that not only demanded precise skills, but river equipment that worked.
During the early years of Morice’s career, the only way to get river equipment in South America was from the foreign guides… or, by making it yourself. Out of necessity, Morice began by making the first river sandals in Chile. He brought a sewing machine with him to Cuzco Peru, where he continued designing many of his first prototypes; personalized mesh gear bags and backpacks. On the other side of the world, Morice borrowed a sewing machine in Kathmandu, Nepal, where he continued his business years later while guiding. In Nepal, Morice began designing his first river rescue belt throw bag system- he brought this idea back to Italy, where his river rescue belts first gained popularity.
Cristian Morice has been a rafting guide and river rescuer since 1989. Following river seasons, crossing continents, and working expeditions in Chile, Peru, Italy, Nepal, and the United States… Morice developed a firsthand knowledge of the needs of a traveler on the water and in the elements. He has devoted his life work to guiding and the creation of river and outdoor equipment that has been recognized as innovative across the globe.

Morice Equipment is the result of a synergy between dynamic expeditions on the river, and years of collaboration with rescue organizations, mountaineers, climbers, rafters, and kayakers. Every piece of Morice Equipment is the result of years of field-testing, visions, and creative evolution.
By the nature of its origins, the focus of Morice Equipment has always been the quality, attention to detail, and functional design to create a product that will last for a lifetime. Morice’s mother owned a family business that designed and manufactured belts and handbags. Learning from her work, he always had an eye for aesthetically beautiful sewing and craftsmanship- which you can see in his work. All products are created with the best buckles and materials available, with triple stitching to reinforce critical points exposed to wear and tear.
We constantly use our products, we improve them, and we design - with a lifetime of use in mind.
